LOGAN, Utah – Fresno State dropped a three-set road match at Utah State on Thursday night, falling 25-18, 25-12, 25-13 at Kirby Court inside the Wayne Estes Center.
HOW IT HAPPENED
Fresno State started strong behind back-to-back kills from Haluska and a service ace from Addison Williams to take an early 3–1 lead. The Bulldogs continued to battle through seven ties in the opening frame, with kills from Pulsipher and Brooklyn Washington keeping the score tight midway through. However, Utah State closed the set on an 8–2 run, using five service aces to take the opener, 25–18.
The Aggies carried their momentum into the second set, jumping out to an early lead behind a string of aces from Andrea Simovski. Fresno State got kills from Haluska, Pulsipher, and Jenna Legault, and Garcia delivered a late ace, but Utah State's offense hit .636 in the frame to win 25–12.
The Bulldogs again grabbed early energy behind Haluska's eighth kill and another ace from Williams, taking a brief 2–1 advantage. The Aggies responded with a 9–1 run to seize control, fueled by strong serving and balanced hitting. Legault added a late block and kill to spark a short rally, but Utah State closed out the match 25–13.
NOTES
Addison Haluska led the Bulldogs with 10 kills, while Madison Pulsipher added six on a .417 hitting clip.
Setter Gabby Lombardi recorded 16 assists and a block assist, and Clara Garcia chipped in four digs and an ace from the service line.
Fresno State finished with 21 kills on .153 hitting, while Utah State hit an impressive .567 as a team.
The Bulldogs (5–13, 1–6 MW) continue their road trip on Saturday, traveling to Boise State for a 1 p.m. first serve.
