GREENSBORO, N.C. – Fresno State baseball's Murf Gray has been named a finalist for the American Baseball Coaches Association (ABCA) and Rawlings Division I Gold Glove Team, the ABCA announced on Monday.
Gray is one of three third-baseman finalists, alongside Brady Counsell (Kansas) and Nico Senese (Georgia Southern), and is the only nominee in the Mountain West.
Mountain West Co-Tony Gwynn Player of the Year Murf Gray had an exceptional season with the Bulldogs with a .324/.639/.398 slash line. He was named MW Championship MVP for the second straight season, becoming the first Bulldog to earn a conference tournament MVP honor in back-to-back seasons and the first athlete in the conference to earn the award twice. Gray spent 3 seasons as the Bulldogs' starting third baseman and hit 36 home runs in that time, putting him tied for 7th place on Fresno State's all-time home run list.
In all divisions, the ABCA/Rawlings Gold Glove winners will be announced on Wednesday, June 18 via social media by Rawlings Sporting Goods.
The ABCA/Rawlings Gold Glove teams were first recognized in 2007 and are presented annually to the top defensive players from each division of collegiate and high school baseball.
