FRESNO, Calif. -- Fresno State softball head coach Stacy May-Johnson has accepted the head coaching position at the University of Iowa, her alma mater.
May-Johnson spent four seasons at the helm of the program, compiling an overall record of 112-106, including a 48-42 mark in Mountain West play. In 2025, the Bulldogs finished with a 37-20 overall record (15-7 MW), earning a runner-up finish at the Mountain West Championship.
"Fresno State Softball is one of the premier programs on the West Coast, with a championship legacy and passionate fan base that sets it apart," said Director of Athletics Garrett Klassy. "We are proud of that history, and we are committed to finding a head coach who can elevate our program to even greater heights. The national search begins immediately, and we fully expect to attract top-tier candidates who understand what it means to represent the Valley."
Fresno State will begin a national search immediately to identify the next head coach who will continue the proud tradition and success of Bulldog Softball.
