Diamond 'Dogs route Roadrunners, 17-1

FRESNO, Calif. – The Fresno State baseball team dominated the Cal State Bakersfield Roadrunners, 17-1, on Tuesday night at Pete Beiden Field at Bob Bennett Stadium.

The Bulldogs return to .500 with a 24-24 overall record in 2025.

HOW IT HAPPENED

Griffen Sotomayor wasted no time getting the Bulldogs on the scoreboard, crushing a solo home run on only the second pitch of Fresno State's half of the first inning. The Bulldogs jumped to an early four-run lead in the first inning, fueled by Justin Stransky's RBI single and Cam Schneider's bases-clearing double.

The Roadrunners responded with their only run of the evening, an RBI groundout in the top of the second.

Fresno State more than doubled its lead in the bottom of the frame, highlighted by RBI doubles from Murf Gray and Bobby Blandford, as well as Stransky's first home run of the night.

The third inning brought three more home runs from the Bulldogs from Eddie Saldivar, Blandford and Stransky, elevating the Bulldog lead to 14-1.

Fresno State's offense settled down in the following innings with only one run scored in both the fourth and fifth innings, each from an RBI double.

Fresno State scored its season-high 17th run in the seventh inning when Schnieder crossed the plate on a wild pitch.

NOTES

The Bulldogs hit a season-high five home runs against the Roadrunners. This is the most home runs hit by the team since May 12, 2023, against UNLV.

Today marks Justin Stransky's second multi-home run game in 2025.

The Bulldogs dominated the Roadrunners with a 17-1 victory, marking their highest single-game run differential of the season at 16 runs.
