Anker named NCBWA Pitcher of the Week

MORGANTOWN, W.Va. - The National Collegiate Baseball Writers Association (NCBWA) released its Dick Howser Trophy National Player of the Week awards presented by The Game Headwear for the period ending April 13. Oregon Statejunior infielder Avi Arquette was named National Hitter of the Week, while Fresno State junior right-handed pitcher Jack Anker and Michigan freshman right-handed pitcher Tate Carey were named National Co-Pitchers of the Week. The NCBWA Board reviews candidates from each Division I Conference and names winners each Tuesday throughout the season.

Anker started in Friday's win over San Diego State and pitched a career-high eight innings. He struck out 16 batters, the second-most by a single pitcher in a single game in 2025.

The Tulare, California, native, did not allow a single run, allowed only two hits and only walked one batter on just 102 pitches.

Founded in 1962, the NCBWA is dedicated to the advancement of college baseball. Membership is open to writers, broadcasters and publicists of the sport. For more information about the NCBWA, visit the association's official Web site, www.ncbwa.com.
