COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. - Fresno State's Elijah Price was named Mountain West Men's Basketball Freshman of the Week, the conference office announced Monday morning. It is the Bulldogs' second time claiming the weekly award this year.
Price averaged 15.0 points, 5.5 rebounds, 3.0 steals and 2.0 blocks per game last week against San Jose State and Utah State. The freshman from Long Beach, Calif. also drew nine fouls in both games. Those fouls often put him on the line where he went 16-of-20 overall.
The Bulldogs have been one of the top producers in steals in the MW, and Price has been a reason why. The 6-foot-9 forward had three in each contest, helping the 'Dogs finish with 11 against the Spartans and 12 versus the Aggies, two of its highest single-game totals of the season. He has eight games this year with multiple steals.
An all-around player, Price also led the Bulldogs in blocks in both games with two in each.
Price is the first Bulldog to win multiple weekly honors from the MW during the same season since Marvelle Harris was named Player of the Week three times during the 2015-16 season.
