FRESNO, Calif. – The Fresno State volleyball team completed a season sweep over the New Mexico Lobos with a win in straight sets at the Save Mart Center on Halloween.
HOW IT HAPPENED
Fresno State opened strong, quickly establishing a 2-0 lead with early kills from Addison Haluska, followed by an error from New Mexico. After a brief back-and-forth, Fresno State capitalized on an attack error and kill from Mya Sellers, pushing the lead to 6-4. An effective block by Sellers then set off a four-point run, giving Fresno State a 10-5 advantage. The Lobos fought back with a five-point rally to even the score at 17-17, but Fresno State responded with a final push led by Ella Rud, allowing the Bulldogs to edge out the Lobos 25-23.
The Bulldogs jumped ahead early, 4-0, in the second set, powered by a kill from Kasey Purry and a service ace by Ella Rud. Fresno State maintained control through effective blockingfrom Haluska and Purry. New Mexico closed the gap midway through the set, tying it at 12-12, but Fresno State again surged with a kill from Haluska and a decisive block that set off a three-point run to 18-15. Although the Lobos cut the lead to 23-21, Fresno State closed out the set with another kill by Haluska and an error from New Mexico.
In the final set, Fresno State took an early lead with a service ace from Brooke Cowie. The Bulldogs extended their lead with several well-placed kills from Jenna Legault, supported by strong serving from Alivia Schneider, who added two aces. Fresno State pushed ahead 19-11 with effective defense, forcing New Mexico errors. The set wrapped up with a service ace by Sydney Gazzaniga, clinching a 25-16 win and a clean sweep for Fresno State over New Mexico.

Addison Haluska's 18 kills tops the team season-high for three-set matches.
The Bulldogs remain in second place in the Mountain West standings with a 8-3 record in conference play.
