Sukhov named All-MW Honorable Mention

Desiree Sukhov earned her third career All-Mountain West honor being tabbed an honorable mention.

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. - Fresno State redshirt senior outside hitter Desiree Sukhov was named All-Mountain West honorable mention, as announced by the conference on Wednesday.

Sukhov, who was named All-Mountain West the past two seasons and the MW Newcomer of the Year in 2019, earns her third career honor by the conference.

Playing in all 18 Mountain West matches and 66 sets for the 'Dogs this fall, Sukhov led the Bulldogs in kills per set (2.89) and kills (191) while ranking second on the team with 151 digs and tied for second with 20 service aces.

Sukhov notched 10 double-digit kill matches with three double-doubles, including a 16-kill, 17-dig performance at San Jose State on Oct. 30, and added service aces in 12 matches.

The Murrieta, Calif. native wraps up her three-year Fresno State career with 787 kills, 562 digs, 102 blocks and 95 service aces and sits second in program history in career aces per set (0.40) and ninth in kills per set (3.29).

Sukhov becomes the first Bulldog to earn three All-MW honors as the 'Dogs have now had seven individuals earn 11 All-MW selections over the last four seasons under head coach Jonathan Winder & 12 individuals have been honored 16 times since moving into the conference in 2012. The 'Dogs finished the season with a 12-14 record and tied for seventh in the MW with Wyoming.

All-MW selections are voted on by the league's 11 head coaches. The coaches also selected the individual player awards and the MW Coach of the Year honor, which went to Utah State's Rob Neilson who helped lead the Aggies to a share of the regular season MW title. UNLV senior outside hitter Mariena Hayden was named the MW Player of the Year for the second straight season while Colorado State outside hitter Annie Sullivan was named the MW Newcomer of the Year and Boise State right side hitter Paige Bartsch was named the MW Freshman of the Year.
