OPENING TIP

The Fresno State men's basketball team will face the Pepperdine Waves on Monday night at 10 p.m. PT at JSerra Catholic High School in San Juan Capistrano, Calif. The game will be broadcast on CBS Sports Network (television) and the Bulldog Sports Network (radio).

Fresno State trails the all-time series with Pepperdine, 15-14, but this will be the first neutral site meeting.

This will be the first game between the programs since the 'Dogs defeated the Waves 69-66 in Fresno at the Save Mart Center on Nov. 13, 2015 to open the 2015-16 season.

This contest is part of the 2021 Southern California Challenge, which also features TCU and Santa Clara.

Fresno State will also face the Santa Clara Broncos on Wednesday at 10 p.m. PT in the multi-team event.

TRENDING

Fresno State is 3-0 to start the season for the first time since the 2015-16 season when the Bulldogs opened 5-0, later won the 2016 MW Tournament and played in the 2016 NCAA Tournament.

Fresno State's Orlando Robinson has scored in double figures in 12 consecutive games, which is currently a career-long streak - edging multiple 11 straight double-figure games earlier in his Bulldog career.

Fresno State is 11-0 when Anthony Holland has scored at least eight points in that game.

Through the first three games of the season, Fresno State has owned a lead in 112 of the 120 minutes of play, and has only trailed for 1:36 (exclusively in the Bulldogs' 69-62 win over Idaho on Nov. 15).

DIVISION I TRANSFERS PLAYING KEY ROLE IN ROTATION

While Robinson and Holland joined the Bulldogs as freshmen out of high school in 2019, Fresno State's rotation features six Division I transfers: Jemari Baker (Kentucky/Arizona), Junior Ballard (Cal Poly), Jordan Campbell (Oregon State), Isaiah Hill (Tulsa), Deon Stroud (UTEP) and Donavan Yap (UNLV).

Three of those six D-1 transfers are averaging double-digit scoring (Stroud, Campbell & Hill) this season.

Campbell and Hill have each started the Bulldogs' first three games.

Campbell is averaging 11.7 points on 15-for-25 shooting (60 percent) from the field.

Hill nearly has a 2.0 assist-to-turnover ratio entering Feast Week.

Stroud scored 13 points in 17 minutes (all in the second half of the Bulldogs' 69-62 win over Idaho).

FRESNO STATE CONTENDING IN THE MOUNTAIN WEST

Since joining the Mountain West in 2012, Fresno State has won the 2016 conference tournament championship and finished as high as second in the regular season. The Bulldogs have finished no lower than seventh in league play in its first nine seasons in the Mountain West, which includes four top four finishes in the past six seasons. In those last six MW campaigns, the 'Dogs won an average of 10.8 MW contests per year -- twice going 13-5 against MW opponents, including Hutson's first season at Fresno State during the 2018-19 season. Fresno State averaged nearly 10 conference victories per season in Hutson's first three seasons as the Bulldogs' head coach.
