LAWRENCE, Kan. - Senior Darina Khisiamova placed eighth on Friday at the College Swimming Coaches Association of America (CSCAA) National Collegiate Open Water Championship.

Competing in the women's 5K (3.1 miles) at Lone Star Lake hosted by the University of Kansas, Khisiamova completed the three-loop course in a time of 1:04:48.4.

She finished just 1:38 behind the winner, Kate Beavon from Purdue, and 50 seconds shy of her time in 2019 when she placed fourth in the event in 1:03:58.1.

With 70 finishers and a total of 22 schools represented, the 'Dogs were the lone Mountain West representative. Nebraska claimed the top spot as a team with the second, fourth and 11th-place finishers for 17 team points. Rice (31 pts.), Purdue (39), Southern Illinois (57) and Kansas (59) rounded out the top five team scores.
