A driver died after crashing into a tree near North Highlands early Tuesday morning.
California Highway Patrol says the driver crashed into a tree just after 1 a.m. near Don Julio and Elkhorn boulevard.
The car split into four large pieces, with chunks of the car landing 25 feet away.
Police estimate that the Chevy Impala was going at least 90 miles an hour, and lost control during the crash.
The driver was thrown from the vehicle and died at the scene.
CHP says no one else was in the car.
