Big Day of Giving: Amanda's 6 Highlight Organizations

Tomorrow, Thursday May 2, is the Big Day of Giving!! There are over 600 non-profits throughout the Sacramento area that need YOUR help and support to continue their amazing work! No matter what size gift you're able to give, you are definitely going to make a difference in our community. With SO MANY amazing organizations it was hard for me to narrow it down to 6 to highlight, but below are non-profits I selected based on their unique mission and the work I've seen them do!

Girls Rock Sacramento: Girls Rock Sacramento helps girls build self esteem through music education, collaboration, empowerment, a supportive community of peers and mentors, and the development of leadership skills.

Girls on The Run: a life-changing, after school program for girls in the 3rd through 8th grade. Our mission is to inspire girls to be joyful, healthy and confident using a fun, experience-based curriculum which creatively integrates running.

Firefighters Burn Institute: providing recovery programs for burn survivors; promoting fire and burn prevention through public education; funding education for medical burn team professionals, firefighters, and burn survivors; and supporting burn treatment and rehabilitation research.

Front Street Animal Shelter: support the many needs, programs and activities required to care for and find loving forever homes for the animals and getting owned animals back home where they belong.

Soil Born Farms: Soil Born Farm Urban Agriculture Project's mission is to create an urban agriculture and education project that empowers youth and adults to discover and participate in a local food system that encourages healthy living, nurtures the environment, and grows a sustainable community.

Winters Farm to School: raise funds to provide fresh, local produce, fruits and nuts for our children's school food program, educate children about the positive, long-term health benefits of healthy eating habits, reconnect children to the rich, deeply rooted agricultural heritage in the community

See if there are any other organizations that speak to YOU on the Big Day of Giving, and donate if you are able to! Even a couple dollars helps them continue their mission and bettering our community. Click right here to visit The Big Day of Giving website.
