One of the movies I always turn to when I need a good cry is, of course, The Notebook. Audiences have adored this love story for over 20 years, book and movie version, and now they will find a new way to love it! When it comes to the Broadway stage. And YES, it will be a musical now!
Nicholas Sparks announced the news on his Facebook and Instagram page, stating musician Ingrid Michaelson would be writing the score and 'This is Us' producer Bekah Brunstetter would be writing the adaptation.
Ingrid was on the Today show this morning, talking about the process. “It’s been slowly building… I haven’t been able to talk about it because we’ve been in negotiations and getting directors and stuff. But finally, my producers signed off and said this is a perfect way to announce it.” Check out a clip below!
Playwright and producer Bekah Brunstetter is equally excited about the project, she said “When I first heard about The Notebook potentially being turned into a musical, I was instantly drawn to the idea." Considering how much people adore 'This is Us', I have a good feeling about her rendition of The Notebook.
While we don't know the timeline of the project, at least we know we have more of Allie and Noah's love story to look forward to.
