Man Shot At Amazon Alexa Before Getting Into Gun Battle With Cops

A 62-year-old man from Florida is in critical condition after getting into a gun battle with the police. The incident started when deputies from the Pasco County Sheriff's Office responded to the home after receiving a 911 call from a ten-year-old girl.

She told the dispatcher that her family fights often and it usually turns physical, but this time, the fight involved a gun. When officers arrived, they met a woman outside who showed signs of abuse. She told officers that she got into an argument with 62-year-old Terrance J. Peterson Jr., and he shot at her Amazon Alexa.

Peterson barricaded himself inside the home and refused to speak with deputies. They eventually decided to storm inside and were met by gunfire. One officer was shot in the leg and was rushed to the hospital in critical condition. He is expected to survive. Another officer was injured when a bullet grazed his hand.

The deputies returned fire and retreated from the home. A SWAT team was called to the scene and they attempted to negotiate Peterson's surrender. They sent a robot inside and saw the Peterson was bleeding.

Medics were sent into the home and discovered that he had been shot in the head. He was taken to the hospital and authorities are unsure if he will survive. It is unclear if he was hit by the officers or if the wound was self-inflicted.

Officials plan to charge him with domestic violence and at least five counts of attempted homicide.
